Las Vegas resident Patricia Rose Brown, 55, died Jan. 22, 2009, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Hooper Bay, Alaska. Patricia loved bingo and playing online poker under the name "Paspatoo." She was a talented basket weaver and wrote poetry. Her family wrote: "Patricia was a very small woman with a very big heart." Family was very important to her; she always thought about others. She was warm and loving with children. She was very proud of her Native American Yupik heritage and enjoyed participating in dances at powwows and other tribal events. Patricia is survived by her husband, Gary Brown of Las Vegas; sons, Dennis Smith of Las Vegas, and Larson Hunter Jr. of Anchorage; her mother, Helen Smith of Hooper Bay; sisters, Donna Smith, Geraldine Tall and Priscilla Hunter of Anchorage; brothers, Albert Smith and Timothy Smith Jr. of Anchorage, Donald Smith and Stanley Smith of Hooper Bay; grandson, Xavier Smith of Scammon Bay; sister-in-law, Debra Brown Felser of Baltimore; brothers-in-law, Bruce Brown of Jericho, Vt., and Jeffrey Brown of Hinsdale, N.H.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Smith Sr.; son, Christopher Witthaus; sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Helen Margaret Smith; and brothers, Harold Smith, Gerald I and Gerald II. Viewings were held at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage, which handled the arrangements, and at her mother's home in Hooper Bay. Funeral services were held at Holy Catholic Church in Hooper Bay Jan. 30, 2009. Burial will take place in the Hooper Bay Cemetery in the Spring. Friends will gather to remember Patty at a Potluck lunch/dinner at her home in Las Vegas, Sunday, Feb. 15, beginning at 1 p.m. Please call (702) 457-4085 for information and directions. Anchorage resident Mary Theresa O'Brien, 84, passed away at home on September 18, 2011.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel; 737 E Street, Anchorage, Alaska. Father Augustine Highlander, O.P. will be the officiant. Mary will be laid to rest at the Hooper Bay Cemetery in Hooper Bay, Alaska.
Mary was born on August 1, 1927 in Hooper Bay, Alaska. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Family Cathedral in Anchorage. She enjoyed picking berries, weaving baskets, cutting fish, bingo, egg hunting, and going to Day Break with her friends.
Her family states, "Our beloved Mom, Auna and friend passed away peacefully. Her love and capturing smile will be missed by all. You will be missed by all and in our hearts forever. She has gone home. God bless."
Mary is survived by her sons Alfred O'Brien of Hooper Bay and Edgar O'Brien of Anchorage; daughters Eulalia Samis of Wasilla, Linora Night of Hooper Bay, Cecelia Rivers of Hooper Bay, Bertha O'Brien of Wasilla, Natalia O'Brien of Eagle River, Lucille Tomagunuk of Hooper Bay; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and son-in-laws.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ivan O'Brien; brothers Angelo Hoelscher and Pius Hoelscher; and grandson Ivan Samis.
The family would like to thank the Anchorage Police Department for sending their condolences and support as well as Mary's caretakers Louisa and her husband.

Hooper Bay resident Thomas Leo Seton, 50, died Jan. 14, 1997, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A funeral was held at Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3804 Spenard Road, [Anchorage] with a visitation. The Rev. Thomas Gallagher officiated. A funeral was also conducted by Little Flower of Jesus Church in the Hooper Bay Gymnasium.
Mr. Seton was born Dec. 15, 1946, in Hooper Bay. He graduated from St. Marys High School in 1967 and served in the Army Reserves and National Guard. He retired from the Guard in 1990 after 25 years of service. Mr. Seton worked in supply administration from 1977 to 1980, was an Army technician for Company E, Second Batallion, from 1984 to 1989, and a washeteria manager from 1989 to 1993. In 1995, he went to work at the water plant in Hooper Bay. Mr. Seton was a member of the Little Flower of Jesus in Hooper Bay, was parish council president for three years, Alaska Village Electric Co-op delegate for many years, and served on the advisory school , the Unicom and the Sea Lion of directors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Mr. Seton is survived by his wife, Mary of Hooper Bay; three sons, Jan of Kenai and Victor and Joseph of Hooper Bay; two daughters, Lori Ann and Helen Seton of Hooper Bay; five brothers, Gabriel and Peter Seton, and Blaise, Anthony and Raymond Tinker; and one sister, Agnes Lake, all of Hooper Bay; a grandson, Francis Seton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
